EPF stands for Employees' Provident Fund, a scheme governed and regulated by a body named Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) constituted under Employees' Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952 and it is a Govt. of India organisation.
The registration of an establishment under the provident fund organisation becomes mandatory, the moment total number of employees in the organisation reaches twenty in number. The application for the EPFO Coverage should be made within 30 days of reaching the threshold limit of the twenty.

PAN Card of the employer
Id proof of employer such as Driving License/Passport/Voter Id

In case the establishment is a society, trust, LLP or company, copy of Certificate of Incorporation is needed
Partnership deed, id proof & address proof of every partner if the establishment is partnership firm
MOA, AOA and Certificate of Incorporation if the applicant is a private or public limited company

Who is liable to deposit to EPF Scheme?

An employer is responsible for depositing all the amount which is deducted from the employees' salaries as well as they have to pay the employer's contribution.

What is the UAN?

The UAN number is the short form of Universal Account Number Identification Number allotted by the EPFO to its members, this acts as an account number for the employees. The establishment needs to allot UAN number to all existing employees immediately after registration of the establishments.

How do you receive PF withdrawals?

Currently, any PF withdrawals are credited directly into the beneficiary's (employee) bank account. Withdrawals are allowed generally after retirement of employees. During the continuance of employment, PF withdrawals are allowed if the employee fulfill conditions as prescribed by the EPF Act.
